Ice Rescue Certification Training

Grand Lake Fire recently conducted Ice Rescue Certification training.  We had a total of 15 (10 new certifications, 5 refreshers) students from 5 different fire departments in the county.  Training consisted of 6 hours of classroom and 6 hours of field day.

Under the instruction of Grand Lake Fire’s certified Ice Rescue Instructor Lt. Blake Mertz, the students rotated through the training as shore support, “victim”, and rescuer.

Feedback from the students was great; they all had a blast and learned a lot.
